Nobody does time travel romance like Hallmark and this one is the best of the best. It’s also got a feminist bent to it – at one point Rip echoes Angelica Schuyler’s idea that Thomas Jefferson should “include women in the sequel” of the Declaration of Independence. The execution of fish out of water comedy sinks or swims with the actor and Niall Matter puts everything into his performance, fully becoming the soldier out of time. His reactions to everything from hospitals to lollipops provide the comic relief to the movie, but his earnestness and good heart are what charm Sarah Majors and the viewer.
