From Barcelona, With Love (2025)

Directed By: Ron Oliver

Written By: Julie Sherman Wolfe

Erica, an American translator, secretly revises a novel set in Barcelona. Everything is fine until bookstore owner Nico invites the credited author, Anna, to the city for a book-signing. Starring Alison Sweeney and Ashley Williams.

First of all, a day where you give someone you love a book and a rose sounds like my kind of day.  This movie has magical settings between Nico’s bookstore and Mateo’s flower shop. One thing From Barcelona, With Love did better than other destination movies was feel lived in. Making Erica an American expatriate who has already spent 10 years in Spain and made a home there was a smart idea and it made me care about Barcelona and the people there the way she does. Anna the author was a harder character to connect with but by the end, I bought their friendship and I am looking forward to the sequel that will center on her.

Favorite Quote: but you know the thing about fate: I don’t think it was ever about Nico and me, I think the fate thing was about you and me becoming friends.

Favorite Kiss: Since it’s pride month, I’m giving this kiss to the one between Mateo and Joseph that the camera pans off of moments earlier. Blink and you’ll miss it
